The Coalition of California State Workers (CCSW) is a Non-Profit Mutual Benefit Organization as well as a Bona Fide Fraternal Association, registered with CalHR. The primary goal of CCSW is to help its members by providing supplemental benefits for their members and their families. CCSW is in no way a part of the collective bargaining process. CCSW cannot represent its members in adverse actions or contractual issues, as that is an exclusive function of members’ respective unions.

Four of the five CCSW board members were originally members of another Bona Fide fraternal organization. Their previous organization refused to give members the opportunity to run or vote for association positions. When members inquired as to the reasons why they were unable to run for positions or vote, their memberships were terminated and they were denied the ability to participate in that organization’s benefits. It also came to their attention that their previous organization’s President had ‘appointed’ immediate family members to the positions of Vice-President and Treasurer, totally disregarding their own election process.

After being ousted from the organization, the current board members decided to create an organization based on transparency and integrity and thus, The Coalition of California State Workers (CCSW) was formed.

The foundation of CCSW is based on the ability for anyone who is a member to have the right to inquire as to the direction and expenditures of the organization. CCSW has made a commitment to work in the spirit of goodwill and freedom of information. Their goal is to simply provide supplemental benefits to all state employees and, in the future, make available scholarships for its members and their families. Remember, with more members better membership enrichment will be possible.
